Practicalities

The conference will take place at the Humanities Research Institute (HRI) at the University of Sheffield, UK on 12 and 13 September 2016.

Train

There is a fast train to London St Pancras which takes two hours. The HRI is a 20-minute walk from Sheffield Train Station. Alternatively, the HRI is very close to the University of Sheffield tram stop, a few stops from the Station.

Car

There is very limited on-street car parking near the HRI. The address is Gell Street, Sheffield, S3 7QY. There are a number of car parks in the city.

Further afield

Sheffield does not have an airport, but you can get to the city fairly easily from most major English airports. For flights landing in London, you should travel into central London and catch the train to Sheffield from London St Pancras Station. There is a convenient train service from Manchester airport to Sheffield which takes about an hour and a half.

Where to stay

Most centrally located/city centre hotels will be within fairly easy reach of the HRI. The attached suggestions are within 20 minutes walk of the conference venue:

The conference dinner

Our conference dinner will take place on Monday 12 September at 7.45pm at Ego mediterranean restaurant on Surrey Street in the centre of town. We warmly invite all delegates to attend and we hope that many of you will join us to continue discussions.

Attendance at the dinner is at each delegate’s cost and will be £20 per person for two courses with wine. Please be sure to complete the field on the registration form for the dinner so that we can make arrangements with the restaurant.
